Q: What is MBBS?
A: MBBS - Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery
Q: What is the medium of instruction?
A: English is the medium of instruction for all the universities and is widely spoken throughout the country.
Q: Am I eligible to practice medicine in India after completing my MBBS at these Universities?A: In order to practice medicine in India, you have to be registered with the Medical Council of India (MCI). After that, you will need to apply to MCI and complete the Screening Test.When you pass the Screening Test, you are provided with registration with the Medical Council of India. Therefore, you will be eligible to practice in India.
Q: Are these universities recognized by the Medical Council of India?
A: Under MCI regulations, Indian citizens seeking admission in a foreign medical institution on or after March 15, 2002, will need to approach MCI for issue of an Eligibility Certificate.This will allow candidates to apply for the Screening Test after completing the medical course abroad.
Q: Are the medical degrees from the Philippine Universities recognized worldwide?
A: Each country will have its own medical governing council or authority, which regulates the country’s healthcare standards and practices.No matter where you finish your degree, you will need to apply for registration with the appropriate country’s medical board and pass the licensing requirements before being allowed to practice medicine in the country.No medical degree will entitle you to “automatic” recognition in any country.
Q: What is the total duration of the course?
A: The MBBS course comprises of four and a half years, followed by a one-year compulsory internship.During the internship, emphasis will be laid on practical “hands-on” experience. The concerned departments are encouraged to develop a diary/log book which contains and gives the details of tasks/cases to be seen by the interns.

Q: Am I eligible to enter into medical school?
A: To be eligible for the program, students must have completed minimum 10+2 or equivalent examination. The course is also available for all students regardless of what year of study, age or gender of the prospective candidate.
Q: Do I have to sit for an entrance level examination before taking the course?
A: No entrance level examination is required for this course.
Q: What is the method of teaching?
A: The syllabus will be taught based on the US style of teaching.
Q: What is the Syllabus?
A: The course will cover subjects equivalent to the subjects taught under the Indian syllabus.The medical curriculum can be taught in many ways. Different learning methods suit different students, so diversity is supported among all our participating universities.A wide range of teaching techniques is employed from traditional lectures and clinical attachments to problem-based learning, small group work, clinical skills training, communication skills training and research projects.
Q: Where will I stay when I get there?
A: Dormitory facilities are available at all participating universities.HCMI will liaise with the respective schools to ensure boarding and lodging requirements are met prior to your arrival.The universities offer high-quality dormitories for both male and female students.
Q: Is there separate hostel accommodation for girls?
A:Yes, all of the universities provide separate dormitory facilities for females.
Q: What about laundry facilities?
A: Laundry facilities are available at the hostels to allow students to do their own laundry.
Q: Does the hostel provide Indian meals?
A: The universities are able to cater to this, including vegetarian requirements.
Q: Who will make travel arrangements?
A: All travel arrangements including the purchasing of air-ticket will by made by HCMI. HCMI will organize an airport pick-up to bring the students to the University.
Q: Do I need a passport?
A: Yes, you should have a passport with at least 6-month validity at the time of applying for a visa.
Q: When does the academic year start?
A: Semester starts in September
Q: Will there be a local coordinator from HCMI India inside the campus to assist me if I need help?
A: No, each university will have its own student services office to provide students with support, counseling and guidance during the course of their degree.There will be an HCMI Representative in Manila to guide the students to solve any of their problems which might require outside help.
Q: Will the university refund the fees if I am unable to attend/continue the course?
A: Our refund policy is as follows:
Partial Refund PolicyWhere a student, having paid the full fees chooses not to commence the course, and gives at least six weeks written notice prior to commencement of the course, 100% of the fees paid is refundable less an administrative fee of USD 1500.Full RefundOther extraordinary circumstances preventing the student from taking up a course may be placed before the governing council/chancellor of the university for the decision for full/partial refund. The student must submit the application for refund along with all the necessary documents for his/her difficulty in studying the course.
Q: Is a stipend provided during the internship period?
A: No stipend will be paid during the internship period.
Q: After completing the course can I do my internship in India?
A: No, the internship must be completed in the Philippines.
Q: Do we have to pay any extra fees for the MCI screening test?
A: Yes, when you apply for registration with the MCI, the council will advise you of the fees required.
Q: Will you train us for the MCI Screening Test? Where and what is the duration for the course?A: Yes, the universities have included the screening test training into the syllabus of the last two semesters.
Q: Can I go back to India during the holidays? What is the holiday period?
A: Yes, if you buy your own ticket, you will be able to go back to India for semester break. The semester break starts from July to August.
